Short absences - a common problem!

Short absences of between one and three days, for which employees are not usually required to submit a medical certificate, are a particular challenge for companies.
This requires action from managers, but this is often easier said in theory than done in practice.

As the situation at the workplace or the working environment is a major contributing factor in around a third of sickness-related absences, a certain amount of helplessness and helplessness often remains after discussions between managers and employees.
SIZ Care AG therefore also offers support in the area of short-term absences under the slogan ‘SIZpronto’.

How does it work?

Employees with several short absences during a certain period (e.g. three short absences within six months) are invited to a counselling interview by the company concerned, which is then conducted by SIZ Care Management.

Why involve SIZ Care AG?

Our experience has shown that in many cases, the involvement of an external person does indeed result in more open behaviour on the part of employees. This increases the chances of recognising and ideally eliminating key ‘illness-causing’ factors.

Important: Management responsibility remains within the company even when an external absence management team is involved.

From practical experience:

Mrs B. aus O:

Due to the employer's internal absence management system, a confidential meeting was held with Mrs B. and an employee of SIZ Care AG due to her numerous absences at short notice. Mrs B was overwhelmed by her situation and did not know what to do. The Care Manager advised her to make an appointment with her family doctor to clarify her health situation. The treatment that followed prevented the threat of long-term incapacity to work and minimised her absences.

Mr M. aus J.:

Mr M. was frequently absent for short periods due to illness. At the employer's request, a confidential discussion was held as a preventive measure. Together with the employee and his line manager, strategies were developed that were well received and implemented by both parties. A further meeting after 2 months confirmed this.
